A beautiful old home, whose owners requested to remain anonymous, has experienced many friendly ghostly happenings since the day they moved in.
After showering the first morning, the owner went to the closet and noticed a penny lying in the center of the closet opening. She had just put her clothing in that closet the day before and hadn’t remembered seeing it. She picked it up and went about her day. The very next morning, again after showering, she went to the closet and in the exact spot was a very old tarnished coin that looked like it was from another time and place. Upon picking it up, she noticed it was a 1987 nickel, but was so oddly tarnished it didn’t look like one she’d ever seen. Since then, she’s saved every coin that continues to appear out of nowhere.
One of the bedrooms has a beige area rug. After cleaning the room one afternoon, the owner left the room to run some errands . Later in the day she returned to the room and there was a penny lying on the carpet. She thought this was very strange since she was the only one home that day!
Once, when the owner was home alone, she had been cleaning the first floor of the home. After dusting the final table in the front parlor, she left for a brief moment to retrieve the vacuum cleaner down the hall. When she returned, there was a penny lying on that last table she had JUST dusted. Again, she was the only one in the house!
Just months after buying the house, a large gold-tinted coin was mysteriously discovered lying on the corner of their bed. The coin had an angel on it with her wings spread. The owners were perplexed because neither had ever seen this coin before!
On another occasion, the owner was upstairs in one of the rooms and found four pennies in very odd places; upper window ledges, fireplace plinth blocks, window sills. One of them was an 1853 Liberty Head Large Cent! Her spouse was adamant that he did not place the pennies there.
Shortly after moving in, the owner had looked for a vitamin bottle which was lying on a dresser in the dining room. It had been there just 30 minutes before. She looked everywhere; around it, under it. It was gone! She left the room and as she walked down the hall, she saw it sitting in the open doorway, right-side-up with the label facing her. It was exactly where she had looked before!
Continually for the first two years after moving in, the Kleenex boxes that were kept on the back of the toilets would fly off, making a crashing sound. When the owner would run into the bathroom to see what had made that loud sound, she would find the box upright in front of the sink, a distance of three feet. This happened so many times, she lost count!
One night her husband was lying on the bed to nap with his back to the door. She had gone downstairs to get a cookie. Within minutes after she left, he felt her get into the bed behind him. He reached back, because he didn’t expect her to still be in the room. She wasn’t, because she was getting her snack downstairs. Just then, a crash came from their bathroom. It was the Kleenex box which was again, sitting upright in front of the sink!
One evening before retiring for the night, they had shut their bedroom door and gone to bed. Upon awakening, they were surprised to see the door was wide open to the hallway!
On a very busy autumn day, the owner had a housekeeper who helped clean the house come in. The housekeeper came downstairs to let her know that one of the bedroom doors was locked. The owner had just been in that room and thought that was odd. She grabbed the house keys and went upstairs with the housekeeper walking behind her. She turned the doorknob and the door opened right up. The housekeeper, who had just tried, gasped and her hands flew to her mouth. She said she’d tried THREE times!
One day the owner was approaching the kitchen when she heard what she thought sounded like bells chiming. As she walked into the kitchen she saw two wine glasses which were hanging on a wine rack, clanging together. This went on for over a minute. None of the other 10 glasses moved!
Another day, the owner was emptying the dishwasher and had just put glasses away in a cabinet. As she turned her back to the cabinet to retrieve more dishes, she heard a loud clang from behind the cabinet door she had just closed. Upon re-opening it, she saw three glasses had all moved onto the lip of the cabinet behind the door!
One evening the owners were lying in bed facing each other, talking, when she felt what she thought might be a bug in her hair. Her husband told her to sit up so he could look. He said there were strands of her hair floating up and down. He gasped and swatted them down with both hands. As he was telling his wife how scary that was, another chunk of her hair lifted up and began floating again. She calmly proclaimed that she just knew it was a small child playing with her hair, and it felt very peaceful at the time.
Several months later, the owner went into one of the bedrooms. As she walked out of the bathroom, she saw a small, blonde-haired boy peeking over the edge of the bed. He was not solid, but opaque. and she could not see clear through him. She instantly felt his emotions as fear that he would be caught in that room. Out of her mouth came, “It’s okay, I’m just leaving the room,” to comfort him. As she closed the door, she realized what had just happened!
On four separate occasions, the owners heard someone climbing the steps up to the third floor attic, where the servants used to live in the 1800s. These instances always occurred at the exact same time, at 1:00 a.m.! They were the only ones in the house.
One day the owner noticed the bathroom spray on the floor next to the toilet. It was always kept on the back of the toilet. She replaced it and went out to the linen closet in the hall. When she came back, it was on the floor again. Again, she replaced it. She left the room again and when she returned a few minutes later she found it on the floor again! She just left it there.
One morning I was curling my hair in front of the sink and the Kleenex box flew off the back of the toilet! This was the very room that the little boy was seen in.
Another strange incident occurred when the owner was alone for the weekend. She had gone out, and when she returned home that evening to her amazement she found every bedroom in the house with the lights on!
Another time the owners had invited their friends to stay with them over the weekend. Upon hearing about all of these strange events, they decided to use their cell phones to record a video in one of the rooms that had seen a lot of action. They closed all the shades and turned off all the lights. The next morning, upon reviewing the video, they saw what looked like large glowing popcorn shapes floating around the room!
Despite all of these strange, unexplainable occurrences, the owners maintain they have never felt fearful or threatened and the house has a “loving energy!" In the last year things have settled down and nothing more has happened.
